Yes. Even though Samsung does not make the screen-less drawing tablets most artists are familiar with, the company does have a series of standalone tablets that can be classified as drawing tablets due to the fact that they work with a stylus (digital pen) capable of detecting different pressure levels.
Most people think of Samsung tablets as entertainment devices. Well, this perception is not entirely wrong. Since the South Korean company became a powerhouse of digital devices, their focus has been developing products mostly for content consumption, such as TVs and cell phones.
As Samsung matured, it started investing in research and development of products geared towards content production, like laptops and tablets. Although these two types of devices can also be used for consumption, such as watching movies and listening to music, laptops and tablets are capable of much more because they enable the user to create something entirely new.
Are Samsung Tablets Actual Drawing Tablets?
Some of them are, some are not.
It’s important that you learn how to distinguish between a regular tablet and a drawing tablet.
The one thing that separates one type of device from the other is the stylus (digital pen). Samsung tablets that come with a stylus that can detect how much pressure the user is applying to the pen while drawing are considered to be drawing tablets just like any other device sold by Wacom, XP-PEN or Huion.
Pressure levels are important because they are the sole feature responsible for allowing the artist to change line weight while drawing, meaning the more pressure the tip of the stylus exerts on the tablet’s screen, the thicker the line becomes. Besides, applying more pressure can also make colors darker. Both of these techniques can only be achieved with a pressure-sensitive stylus and both o them are absolutely necessary for professional artwork to be done.
The key point I’m trying to get across here is, whenever you buy a Samsung tablet for drawing reasons, make sure to check whether the tablet you’re buying comes with a stylus that has pressure-levels detection.
Are All Samsung Tablets with Stylus Drawing Tablets?
No. Only tablets that come with a stylus capable of detecting pressure-levels can be considered drawing tablets.
Let me explain this as clearly as possible. There are three types of Samsung tablets:
- Regular tablets without a stylus
- Tablets with a stylus without pressure levels detection
- Tablets with a stylus that do have pressure levels detection
Only having a stylus is not enough to determine if a tablet is a drawing tablet or not. The stylus necessarily must be able to detect pressure-levels.
I need to stress this because older tablets, and even some cheap newer models, may come with a stylus that does not have pressure-level detection. In this case, these styluses work just like a finger against the screen, therefore tablets that only work with this kind of digital pen cannot be considered drawing tablets.
Which Tablet Made by Samsung Can Be Considered a Drawing Tablet?
The Galaxy Tab S6, which comes with the new S Pen (stylus), is a great drawing tablet.
This is a standalone device that can be used for a multitude of tasks. Pretty much everything from watching Netflix to creating art gallery worthy artwork.
To be completely honest, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 is not the best tablet in any particular area, but it’s one of the most well-balanced devices out there. So, if you need a tablet for entertainment, work and also for drawing, this is a great option.
I have noticed that this tablet has been getting some of the best reviews these days and is considered to be one of the most reliable devices of this generation, and here I’m talking about all other companies, including Apple.
I highly recommend you take the time to check out this tablet and see if it’s a good option for you.

Samsung does sell drawing tablets, but you need to be able to identify which of their tablets fall within this category. Selecting the wrong one could cause you a lot of headache, so make sure to read this article carefully.
I’ve had amazing experiences with this company and I highly recommend their products. Despite making some mistakes in the past, such as phone batteries that overheated, Samsung has come a long way and their products keep climbing to the very top with each and every new release.
